CERTIFICATE OF COMPLIANCE PERMIT FOR RESIDENTIAL
​SMOKE DETECTORS AND CARBON MONOXIDE ALARMS

CERTIFICATE OF COMPLIANCE PERMIT
​FOR RESIDENTIAL SMOKE DETECTORS
​AND CARBON MONOXIDE ALARMS

Residential Smoke Detector and Carbon Monoxide Alarm inspections and the accompanying Certificate of Compliance Permit are required when renovating and selling a residence. In order to receive said permit, please provide a complete application and the accompanying fee.

​The inspection ​fee is $50 cash or check made payable to the Town of Oak Bluffs per dwelling. Guest houses, pool houses, detached garages, etc. are considered additional dwellings. You may print, fill out and return the necessary documents via email
, standard mail or fill out a hard copies at the Station and drop it off in the Station's Lobby Drop Box (available 24/7) at your convenience, but you must still bring/mail the cash/check to the Station.

​Please review the 'Smoke Detector & Carbon Monoxide Alarm Requirements When Selling a One- or Two- Family Residence' information for specific placement of smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms.

PLEASE NOTE: Upon receipt of a complete application and accompanying fee, a member of the Administration will contact you to schedule an inspection. All inspections take place on Tuesdays through Thursdays between 2:00 – 4:00 PM. If your inspection fails, another complete application and fee are required for a re-inspection and the same process as above applies.

  • Application for Certificate of Compliance for Smoke Detectors and Carbon Monoxide Alarms
  • $50.00 Cash or Check Made Payable to the Town of Oak Bluffs per dwelling
