FUEL TANK INSTALLATION/REMOVAL PERMIT

FOSSIL FUEL TANK
INSTALLATION/REMOVAL PERMIT

In order to schedule a Fossil Fuel Tank Inspection and be issued a permit, complete applications including the respective permit application form, GIS plot plan, certificate of completion, and fee are needed. Applications must indicate quantity of tanks, capacity of tanks, tank location (aboveground or underground), and tank fuel type. Tank permits will not be issued without this information and documentation. Applications for tank installations and removals must be submitted separately with a fee and complete documentation for each. ("Swapping", "Relocating", or "Moving" tanks on a property requires two applications as they count as a tank removal and a tank installation.)

The permit/inspection fee is $50 cash or check made payable to the Town of Oak Bluffs.
You may print, fill out and return the necessary documents via email, standard mail or fill out hard copies at the Station and drop them off in the Station's Lobby Drop Box (available 24/7) at your convenience, but you must still bring/mail the cash/check to the Station and pick up the permit after the inspection.

PLEASE NOTE: Upon receipt of a complete application and accompanying fee, a member of the Administration will contact you to schedule an inspection. All inspections take place on Tuesdays through Thursdays between 2:00 – 4:00 PM. If your inspection fails, another complete application and fee are required for a re-inspection and the same process as above applies.

Documents Required for Tank Installation or Removal Permit:
  • FP-006 Application for Standard Permit with Certificate of Completion
  • GIS plot plan (Can be found here)
  • $50.00 Cash or Check Made Payable to the Town of Oak Bluffs

MESSAGE FROM THE
DUKES COUNTY FIRE CHIEFS ASSOCIATION
REGARDING PROPANE TANKS

MARCH 2021

To all our community members with propane:

With an unprecedented amount of propane account changes with tank removals being seen throughout Dukes County, we are looking for some assistance to gather information on tanks that may be left on your property after the change over. While it is your responsibility to notify the outgoing provider, we recognize that people have had some issues making contact. Please use the link to fill out an Unpermitted Propane Tank Reporting Form provided by your local Fire Departments (Dukes County Fire Chiefs Association) in an effort to rectify the unpermitted tanks within our communities. The information will be provided to each Fire Department in order to enforce proper code compliance regarding propane tanks that have been taken out of service on your property.
